Everyone Loves a Parade

DotBikeNews Comments Off

DotBike is riding in the Dorchester Day parade on Sunday June 1st. And you can to.

“The Dorchester Historical Society inaugurated Dorchester Day in the year 1904 to observe the 274th anniversary of the settlement of Dorchester. Over 200 citizens of Dorchester gathered in a tent on Savin Hill to celebrate the occasion with a band concert and addresses on the crest of Savin Hill on June 25, 1904. The Society named the celebration “Dorchester Day. Over time Dorchester Day has become an occasion of home-coming for those originally from Dorchester (OFD), of the revival of old memories and of a great parade following the length of Dorchester Avenue from Lower Mills to Columbia Road.” – taken from the Dorchester Atheneum

The parade is always a good time so bring your bike and join in the fun.

See the calendar for info on time and meeting spot.

Dot Bike bike week

DotBikeNews Comments Off

It was a great Bay State Bike week for DotBikers.  The weather was great despite initial forecasts to the contrary.  Each of the events that we held or were closely involved with had over 20 participants.

The breakfast was quite fun and tasty (despite the windy conditions).  See the previous post for a description and some pics.  I hear the commute ride home was great although alas I couldn’t attend.  And we hear that the Dorchester convoy on the Boston Bike to Work Day may have had the most riders of any of the convoys.   Way to go Dorchester.

Thanks to all who made Bike week in Dot such a success.

Enjoyable Dot Bike Commuter Breakfast

DotBikeNews 1 Comment »

We had a great time and a good turnout at our commuter breakfast Tuesday morning at the newly opened Dot2Dot cafe. We met some new Dot riders and reconnected with some we hadn’t seen in a while.

Thanks to Karen and her staff for the great venue and for preparing the wonderful pastries, coffee and juice. Thanks also to Dan Larner and SMAMS and Roseanne Foley and DotWell for their generous sponsorship. And a big shout out to Amy and Melissa for coordinating the logistics. Great job!

After set up but before the rush began some of us had a chance to pose with Phil’s sweet ride at the Dot2Dot.
